Masters storylines

Tiger’s return has been the storyline heading into this week’s Masters. We could talk about Tiger until the cows come home, but everybody is already doing that. You know what that means… they’re not talking about any of the other players! So, let’s look at a few players who could benefit from the distracted spotlight.

Rory McIlroy is the only place to start. In the time that Rory’s been chasing the career grand slam, Tiger has seen his career fall apart, made a sensational comeback at The Masters, been in a life-threatening car crash and is making another remarkable Masters comeback… If not now, when? It feels like the pressure of expectation has been his undoing, so this could be his gift-wrapped chance.

The list of Americans is too long pick through individually, but DJ holds the tournament record, Brooks is a Major Mastermind, Dechambeau thinks Augusta is a par-67, Morikawa is a silent assassin and Scottie Scheffler will want people to see him as a legitimate World No.1. That’s without even discussing Spieth, Thomas, Schauffele or FedEx Cup Champ Cantlay.

Over in Australia, Cam Smith’s Players victory has many people tipping him to wear the Green Jacket. Meanwhile, Jon Rahm plays his best golf when he’s got something to chase, and what better carrot to dangle than his recently-stolen World No.1 title?

It would take a brave person to call the outcome of this tournament, but isn’t that all the more reason to stop by our pro shop and tell us who you fancy to conquer Augusta National?
