Hatton goes the distance... The recent Distance Insight Report from the R&A and USGA asserted that continued distance gains (especially among the professional game) are hurting golf. With that in mind, it was a pleasure to see at the Arnold Palmer Invitational only four players ended under par with a certain Englishman making history. Tyrrell Hatton was one of only four players to end the Arnold Palmer Invitational under par as he held on in tricky conditions to land his first PGA Tour title and record the first Bay Hill victory for an Englishman. 2017 champion Marc Leishman ran him close but fell one-shot short with a double-bogey at the third ultimately proving his downfall. There was more misery for McIlroy though who started Sunday joint second before a pair of double-bogey’s dropped him to a tie for fifth. |
